Trees Planted
In the last 14 years Ol Pejeta has planted up to 10,000 new trees every year
It is our belief that by focusing on fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between conserving biodiversity and responsible resource management for sustainable development – land can support people’s wellbeing and wildlife. Through 20+ years of community development work and engagement we have worked hard to build strong relationships with communities surrounding Ol Pejeta, in support of this mission
Targeting secondary & tertiary education to improve opportunities for jobs through enhanced skills and employability. Conservation education programme for children inspires the next generation of environmentalists
Providing training to women-led smallholder farms to improve livestock management and increase market access. In doing so this enhances the sustainable management of resources, helping restore degraded lands and build community resilience.
Engaging with communities to increase their participation and support for conservation. Building trusted relationships with local communities and their capacity to access support and resources needed to enhance self-reliance.
Approximately $500k is invested every year in different projects that ensure conservation translates to benefits for the 40,000 people living alongside wildlife. To date we have supported 40 schools and 10,000 students, improving access to education, and increasing learning outcomes through better facilities and learning environments.
