At Ol Pejeta, conservation is not just about protection, its about creating a sustainable future where a species can not only survive, but thrive.

We don’t just save species; we build legacies. Having grown our rhino population to over 230, this extraordinary success now demands we expand the safe habitat required to sustain them.

Because of this success, Ol Pejeta has become a source population, actively managing the national black rhino population to ensure their long-term health and survival. This critical work, which includes not only conservation but also translocations, is fundamental to securing a wild tomorrow.

In 2024, we successfully translocated six critically endangered black rhinos to Loisaba Conservancy, helping establish their founding population. In 2025 we continued this vital expansion, moving nine black rhinos to Segera Conservancy.

These achievements—from successful births to strategic expansion—are why we need your support.

As our rhino populations succeed and grow, the pressure on the habitat intensifies. This success brings challenges: high population density increases the stress on the rhinos and can lead to aggressive territorial behaviour and deadly fighting between males. This necessity for expanded space is a driver of our translocation strategy and the vital conservation work supported by your donations.
