Ol Pejeta is a sanctuary for some of Africa’s most iconic and endangered species, from the critically endangered eastern black rhino to the elusive Grevy’s zebra. Poaching, human-wildlife conflict, and disease outbreaks require immediate and often grueling interventions. At the forefront of these critical operations are the dedicated veterinarians and rangers of Ol Pejeta, a team facing immense challenges to protect the wildlife under their care.

This campaign, “Guardians of the Wild,” shines a light on the demanding reality of wildlife interventions. Imagine a zebra with its neck caught in a snare, its life hanging in the balance. Or an hours-old elephant calf requiring urgent treatment in the harsh African bush. These are the scenarios Ol Pejeta’s vets face daily.

These interventions aren’t for the faint of heart. They require immense physical and emotional resilience. The animals, too, endure tremendous stress. Capture, immobilization, and treatment are traumatic experiences, even when necessary for their survival. The vets work tirelessly to minimize this stress, understanding that each intervention is a delicate balance between saving a life and causing further harm.
